Poor Kimball came home from school today and told me that his friend didn't want to sit by him. He said that he wanted to sit by another little boy and he thinks that his friend likes this other boy better. He was trying so hard to be brave and not cry. I suggested that he invite both of them to sit with him tomorrow. He said that he could and then he was quiet for a while and tears welled up in his eyes and he said, "Maybe he will sit by me at church." It was SO sad.
I can remember telling my mom about little friend issues and she always made suggestions about how to feel better or to reach out to them. I never knew that it makes a mother feel bad too. Kimball is just so sweet and yes, he is active and busy, but he is also kind and caring. He is really tenderhearted and it broke my heart to see that he had his feelings hurt. He kept telling me it was okay and that he was happy, but his little voice was quivering and his eyes were all teary. Poor brave little man.
This picture was taken at my sister's open house last weekend. I just thought it was sweet because he is holding Kael's hand.

That is such a cute picture of our boys! Thank goodness that Kimball is so good to my Kael. He LOVES him! He talks about your boys in his sleep all the time! I'm so glad we have kids the same age and that we live close to one another! Love you!
I know what you mean. Halle's had to deal with a bully this year (last year she punched Hal in the face). Anyway, it's hard to teach them to keep being kind, and yet also stand up for themselves. (The mama bear in me wants to march over to the little snot's house and give her the what-for!) The only good that comes from it is an opportunity to help our children learn empathy by remembering how someone else's unkindness made them feel.
Sometimes it's hard to be the mommy.
Ohhhh that post just about Matt and I cry. It's true I didn't realize as a child that my mom hurt with me but I am sure she did. Kind of makes you see God in a new light hu?!
Ooohhhh...that is so sad. It is so hard to see your kids sad because of something someone else did.
I have been through the same thing with Easton and a couple of his cousins. It breaks my heart when he comes to me and says ---- likes ---- better than me, and he won't play with me. It is a good teaching and learning experience I guess. Just one you wish they never had to learn. Good luck!
That is soooo hard...I dread the day that James goes through that. Thank goodness Kimball is older in his grade. Josh was always tender hearted and yet fun to be around, too. It sounds like Kimball is a lot like him! Kids are just plain mean. Larry tells me stories about what his students go through in middle school, and I realize that these are indeed the last days!
