Halloween, here we come

My boys are so excited for Halloween this year. Kimball and McKay remember what it's all about, and I am positive it will take Benson one house to figure it out. They are super excited about their costumes, which are (of course) nothing but superhero. Kimball is going to be BATMAN and McKay is going to be IRONMAN. They even call eachother Bruce Wayne (Batman) and Tony Stark (Ironman). Benson is going to be a sweet little calm pumpkin, hehe. Something tells me that if he could communicate better, he might pick a superhero too...

Any fellow Cathy Hall dancers that remember the "Monster Mash" dance? Hehehe. I heard it on the radio today and my boys thought it was the coolest. I was excited when they had it on playlist. com.

Happy 30th

Sunday was Josh's 30th birthday. I had planned on throwing a surprise party for him with black balloons and everything. Then I realized that it was maybe really bothering him, and so I decided not to rub it in. Instead we went for a much-needed weekend out. We went to Salt Lake and stayed at the Marriott, thanks to my dad. He let us use a free room certificate that he had. We had sparkling cider, chocolate covered strawberries, room-service breakfast-in-bed, and an awesome view of Salt Lake. We went shopping for Josh in Park City. He desperately needed jeans that were nice and not all stained and worn from work. We went and visited Joseph, Martha, Maggie and baby Sarah Jane. They were so sweet. They made a birthday cake for Josh. Thanks guys! They also let me hold the baby a lot! She is so sweet and she smelled so good! She was warm and cuddly. Saturday we went to the Salt Lake temple because Josh and I have never done a session there. They even asked us to be the witness couple. It was awesome. When we got home, I am not sure the kids were ready to see us, but we were ready to see them. Funny how it feels so good to get a little break, but how lonely you are without them, right?? Anyway, Happy Birthday to Josh. I love you and I am so grateful for all you do for me and our family.

We just had to laugh

Josh went to go check on McKay the other day during his nap, and this is how he was sleeping. His head is inside the clothes hamper. Weird. I don't know why he did it, but he did and it gave us a good laugh.

It never ends...BOYS=GERMS

Ok, I actually have a lot going through my mind in regards to my last post. First of all, I want to thank all of you who left comments or called (even if you felt silly about it, it was an answer to my prayers--you know who you are.) Thank you. Conference was really good today and I am looking forward to tomorrow's sessions.
BUT, in the meantime, I have to post what happened at Smith's tonight. Beware to the germ-a-phobics. This is not for you, you'll be yakking up a lung before it's through. Benson has a pacifier... judge me if you will. Yes, he is 19 months old, and I still let him have it. It's just one battle I am not willing to fight right now. Anyway, we have lost more than one "paci" (as we call it) at the store. So, I pay particular note as to whether or not he has one when we go. Tonight- he didn't. We were going up and down the aisles and I noticed he had a paci. I thought about it for a minute and asked myself out loud where it came from. McKay quickly answered, "I saw it on the floor. Benson dropped it. Don't worry, I got it for him."
Yes, my son was sucking on another child's lost pacifier. I freaked out for a second and realized, the damage was already done. WHATEVER! I let him have it. Does that make me a bad mom?

When it gets in your head...

I don't have pictures to post or anything really exciting to say. This song has been going over and over in my head. I hate when that happens. That aside, how do you see all these people around you that do so much and know you could do more... but yet, you are trying and sometimes you feel like that's all you've got. Sometimes all you've got isn't good enough.

Could Not Ask for More

I have to be honest. I had every intention of writing a whiny post. I haven't been much of a blogger in the last two months. And, instead of jumping on to write about the cute things my boys have been saying and doing, I jump on the chance to complain. (Oh, by the way, Sha took this picture of my boys and I LOVE IT! Thanks Sha!) Anyway, I started feeling really guilty because while there are things I could really whine about, there are more that I should be thankful for. (That is why I changed my playlist song, because I really have been blessed.) So, I am just going to share a few cute things about my boys:

I was making cookies with Kimball and Leah. All was going relatively well until Kimball turned the Kitchen Aid on the highest speed and cake mix went EVERYWHERE. The kids were good to get down and help clean up. I thought it was so cute that I wanted to take a picture of them with the broom and dust pan. Just as I clicked the picture, Kimball LICKED the dustpan!! I told him it was gross and he said, "No, it's not Mom, it tastes like chocolate."

McKay has decided that while obsessed with catching bugs of all sorts, he also enjoys EATING them. Yup, you heard it. He eats grasshoppers! If you ask him about it he says, "You don't want to eat the big ones, because they will jump in your mouth. Just find the little ones!" It's true. He's eaten at least 10 since we went camping in August.

Benson really loves my mom and dad, his "Mimi and Papa." Well, he misses Grammy and Papa when they go out of town. On one of their outings this summer, he packed around the picture of the two of them in Alaska. He would point at them and then hug the picture. When I tried to get it away so he wouldn't break the frame, he ran away from me. So... I had to get a picture of him running away.

Kimball loved watching Michael Phelps in the Olympics. He also loves to swim at my mom's house. One day, he had it all figured out and he was going to race McKay in the Olympics. He was Michael Phelps, and McKay was Jason Lezak. At the end of the race he was cheering and saying, "I did it, I did it!" So I pretended to be an reporter and asked, "Michael Phelps, how does it feel to win another gold medal?" My five-year-old (in true character) said, "I had a good day! It was a great swim!"

McKay is still obsessed with nylons! What in the world?? He took more out of my mom's drawer when no one was looking and made sure to wear long pants so his dad wouldn't see that he had them on when he went to bed. I tried to give him some tall socks to put on, but they didn't cover his whole leg so they weren't good enough. Oh great! Does anyone have any suggestions?

While eating a frosty at Wendy's, Kimball gagged himself with the spoon. My mom and I told him not to do it and then asked why he did. He got a really searious look on his face and said, "I just wanted to feel my spirit."

McKay loves Bishop Graham's dog Dutchess. Sometimes, when we go to the office, she is there. One day she was barking to play with the boys. McKay said, "Mom, do you hear that? Dutchess is BARFING at us!"

I walked in on Kimball using the bathroom. He was disgusted and said he needed his privacy. Then he let out a little toot. He said, "See Mom, did you hear that? That was gas. It was saying, 'Oh, don't get up bum, there is more coming out!"

My boys definately keep our house going at 90-miles, but they are funny as can be. I have been blessed, and I really couldn't ask for more.

Frogs, snails and puppy-dog tails

Beware! This may get a little personal, so consider yourself warned. I just have to say that I love my boys. They are so funny and curious and they can melt my heart in a blink. Anyone that has spent any time with me knows that they are also your typical boys. Busy, and into superheros and bugs and motorcycles and flying and dirt. Sometimes I know that they are just being boys, but it drives me crazy. They are pushing and shoving and tearing things apart to see how they work. They are "pretend" fighting, jumping out of my windows, running, screaming... need I go on? They are boys. If I tell them they are going to get hurt they usually come back with something like, "No, I am really strong. See my muscles?" They aren't worried about germs or getting dirty. I am the only girl in this house. I sit to use the bathroom. Somehow, I am the one to clean up when my boys "miss" the toilet. (Which is a frequent mistake. They must have terrible aim. GROSS!) Don't get me wrong, they are good boys. It's not like they run around like crazy savages with no sense of routine or manners. It's just that sometimes it feels overwhelming to be taking care of these three little boys with more energy in their little fingers than I have had in my entire life! Just today I had one son scratch my car with his transformer, one jump into my mom's pool without floaties on (luckily we were in the pool already), and one constantly hanging onto my leg while I tried to get my to-do's done. When I ask them for a reason why, their latest is, "It sounded wike an idea." Still, when I put them in bed tonight, they ask for a love and a kiss and tell me, "Wooks wike we had a good day mom, right? I wuvs you." After all my frustration and stress, they can forget it all and tell me that they love me and that we had a good day. I guess I have a lot to learn. Here's a few pictures of my boys being boys.
