Toothless Throwback

Since Kimball lost his tooth two weeks ago, I figured it could count as a throwback. It's late enough, and I am finally getting around to it, so I figured I could get a two-for-one post in.
I have tons of blurry and silly pictures, but this one was the best. His personality shines through his smile and you can tell he was proud as punch that he had pulled his tooth out by himself. (He wanted me to take a picture of him with his tooth under the pillow.) I think he is actually going to be totally toothless because his other top-front tooth is loose and his two bottom-front teeth are loose too!
We left for Jackson Hole early the morning-after and we talked about the tooth fairy and how he was so brave on-and-off for the whole weekend. He, being gregarious, told complete strangers that he had lost a tooth and the tooth fairy visited and gave him money because he was brave enough to pull it himself. Apparantly she is eco-friendly too. He says that she recycles the teeth and gives them to new babies. (Kinda gross, but funny, right?)
At one meal, he asked how the tooth fairy got in to the house. He said, "Santa comes down the chimney, but how does the tooth-fairy come in?"
I had never given much thought to it, and I don't think the thought ever crossed my mind as a child because, of course, she is a magic fairy. So, in my mind, I was trying to think about pixie dust, and her wings, and some magic tooth spell.
Before I could come up with something magical, Josh said, "I left the back door unlocked for her." Kimball said, "Oh, thanks Dad."
P.S. I finally added the picture for the throwback from a few weeks ago. Oops!

OVERWHELMED

I have so much to blog about but it seems like we have so much going on!! Ahhh! I decided to read blogs while I am waiting for my whites to be done washing so I can put them in the dryer before I go to bed. I hate when I go for several days because I miss out on so much on other people's blogs.  Then, I have tons to blog about: Kimball lost his first tooth, our trip to Jackson, my friend had a baby, some more smack about our burger competition, swimming at my mom's (rather the boys swimming at my mom's...SO COLD), etc. etc.
Not just that, I mean, I am not SOOO overwhelmed with blogging, I mean really, it's not a huge deal... I just WANT to blog about those things. But, work has been stressful, the boys are always busy little bees, the everyday housework, projects that are always in the back of my mind, our family reunion (which starts tomorrow night), my cub-scout projects, my FHE lessons for Relief Society, blah blah blah. I mean, I know I can go on and on. It's dumb really. I am sure some of you read this and think I am pathetic because you have a lot more going on. I guess I just get in little ruts when I feel overwhelmed and frustrated and then I start to feel inadequate and the cycle goes on and on. You know? Anyway, I just had to vent for a second...

Friendly Throwback

So, I wanted to post a picture of high school graduation because it has now been 10 years. I know, I know. I feel the crow's feet and the sagging as we speak. But, what the heck? I know there is a whole stack of graduation but I can't find it. Anyway, in my high school pictures, probably 80% of them are cheerleading pictures (or at least pictures with my cheerleading friends). Of those, the majority are of Tiffany, Joni and I. This picture is of Tiffany and I at her parents house before we went to college. We did everything together. We went on group dates together, we cheered, we dressed up to go to 7-11 at 2am together, we pretended to toilet paper together, we ran away from "PANCHO" together, we went to girls camp together, welaughed, we cried, and even sometimes got in some pretty intense teenage-girl "fights". We were even clogging partners in like 2nd grade or something like that. Through it all, we are still as good of friends as ever. We still get together, we talk on the phone for hours catching up, we laugh about memories, and plan fun little get-aways like the Tim McGraw concert last year. We can ALWAYS pick up where we left off. Thanks Tiff! Love ya!

Dr. Kimball will see you now...

I know I just posted about the airshow, but I remembered that I have to write down what Kimball said the other night at dinner.
After he told me what liver was, I am pretty sure he is going to be going into the medical profession (see the earlier post on Kimball's birthday).
We went to Casa Rios for my sister's birthday. My boys LOVE the chips and salsa, but they also really like to add salt. So, before we went we explained to the boys they couldn't pour the salt all over their chips because it wasn't good for their bodies. Kimball asked what part and Josh said, "Your kidneys!" (Whatever, sorry if that's wrong to anyone who is smarter about that kind of thing than we are.)
Anyway, he seemed satisfied and we sat down to eat. Probably a good half hour later, out-of-the-blue Kimball said, "These are my kidneys." I looked at him and asked him what he'd said and he lifted up his leg, pointed at his knee and said, "These are my kid knees!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! All I could say without busting up was, "Yup, those are kid knees."

I feel the need, the need for speed!

So, the title is a line from "Top Gun," in case you haven't seen the flight seens a gazillion times like we have. I needed something for this post about the coolest Saturday! Yesterday we went to the airshow at Hill Air Force Base. IT WAS AWESOME! I was excited to go because I knew I would have fun watching the boys get excited, but I didn't know I would get so excited. When the Thunderbirds come back, we will be going for sure. The Thunderbirds were the best part by far, but I really liked all of it. The boys had fun looking at all the static displays where they got to look at the planes close up and meet the pilots. They had been asking if they could ride in the "topguns" and we were explaining that not very many people get too and that you have to be older and bigger and even then you will throw-up sometimes because of the extreme force. SOOOO, when we met "Cheech" one of the jet pilots McKay asked him if he throws-up when he flies. Oh my heck, it was funny but embarrassing at the same time. Cheech was really nice though, he just smiled and said, "Actually, I did throw-up the first time I went up!" So, here is a slide show of just a fraction of the pictures we took. Josh's brother was there and hopefully we can get some from him too. Maybe he got some good ones of the Thunderbirds.

"Brudders" Throwback

So Kimball and McKay are only 19 months apart. They have been such good buddies and play together really well for the most part. They do fight and have their moments, but they both say that they are eachother's best friends. When we moved, we told them they could have their own rooms, but they wanted to have the same room with their bunkbeds because, they said, "We are brudders and we are friends." Today they were playing really well and having a ball being transformers and taking turns being Optimus Prime and Megatron. Eventually, Kimball wanted to come upstairs for a snack and McKay was really upset that he wouldn't stay in the basement and play with him. He got really dramatic about it and said, "Oh great! I guess Kimball likes to eat food more than to be my brudder." He was half crying/half whining about it for a few minutes when Kimball finally decided he could wait and eat later so that McKay wouldn't feel sad. Anyway, I thought it was sweet and it made me think of the many pictures I have of them together. This one melts my heart because Kimball is trying so hard to make McKay feel better and McKay is just screaming his head off! I can't really remember what happened after this, but I do remember Kimball loving on him and trying to soothe him by saying, "Ok, ok, ok."

A is for Apple

The boys are always doing things that make me smile. To explain this picture, I have to explain two things: First, they love to play school with me and even with just each other. Second, I have decided that they are old enough to just sit quietly at church and that they don't need things to occupy their time, but I don't mind if they want to draw. Well, on Sunday, towards the end of sacrament meeting, Kimball asked me if I would, "write the big and little alphabet." So, I quickly wrote it down for him and didn't give it much thought. About five minutes later he had this to show me:
For translation: Apple for A, Balloon for B, Car for C. Next, E and D are together. The person over the circles, is a person who Died, and their body left the Earth. A Floating person for F, Go sign for G, Hat, Igloo, (no J), Kite, Licorice, Milk, Note, Octopus, Pumpkin, Queen. R, S and T are together. You have to look from the right to the left. It's a Turtle going Slowly to the Runway. Next again U, V, and W together: Wall-E with a Violin going Up (note the line under Wall-E marking where he'd already been, heehee). X and Y are an X-Ray of "you" and Zebra for Z. What a cute kiddo. I guess I'll keep him!
